“TEAM SGYC” took on all comers at the Impulse State Championships at the weekend and cleaned up! We were well represented in a fleet of 16 boats, with 4 members from South Gippsland, Matt, Toby, Ripper and Henry. Matt took overall First place, Toby won the Grandmaster and Ripper won the Great Grand Master divisions. Fantastic results chaps! Toby also won the trophy for the most capsizes in two races: a total of 6!
Our roving reporter, Lyn noted the conditions were extremely rough and towards the upper limit of sailable wind speed on Saturday, but the fleet managed to complete 3 races. However, just 6 boats ran the first race, increasing to 9 for the other 2 races of the day. Sunday saw much better conditions and everyone managed to complete the 3 races as set.
Clearly, there’s something special about sailing at Inverloch. Not only did our team bring home a great result, but both Jonathan and Shaun have sailed with us on the Inlet and were able to use our secret ‘Anderson magic’ to put themselves on the podium! So spread the news far and wide: Inverloch is THE place to sail if you want to sail like a champ!
