Loch Sport Eastern Regional Regatta

by Matt Kiely .

SGYC Inverloch members arrived on Saturday (except Folkert ) to find great sailing conditions with a building 12 – 17 knots from the SE. We had reasonably flat water, no current, no sandbars (alien conditions for us!) and the invitation race was great fun for all.

Saturday night’s pub meal turned out to be a great little social event enjoyed by sailors from multiple clubs.

Sundays racing was ON! with many more sailors and spectators arriving including Folkert with his usual fashionably late arrival.

The regatta itself came down to only the Sunday morning race with winds building to 20 knots and expecting 24 knots plus in the afternoon. The SGYC team with our monohulls and cats finished with a 1st and two 2nd places and this was enough for overall second. GLSC ( Painesville ) with 3 categories took out the win with two 1st places and a second.

1st and 2nd place monohulls were Matt and Toby with Pete a 2nd place in the cat division.

A great effort from all who went and our club was represented by:
Cats sailors – Pete Kiely, Jake and Russell Lurarti and Shaun Freeman.
Monohulls sailors – Matt Kiely, Toby Leppin, George Fairlie, Henry Mueller, Folkert and Sara Janssen.

GO SGYC!
