Opening day 2016-2017 season

jakeThe forecasts for the afternoon (with high winds coming in later in the day) resulted in the race being postponed, however a few sailors rigged up and had a hoot before the change came through.
In the end it came through much later, giving a bunch of sailors a chance to dust off the cobwebs and hit the water.
Matt Kiely came out and thumped around in his newly acquired, Tim Wilson built ex- david Grimmond boat ‘Wolly’ (It looks like its going to be a fast monohull sailing season). Pete Kiely did what Pete Kiely does and sailed very fast until a wave jumping episode (apparently he managed to get the whole boat out of the water) resulted in a broken batten. Jake Lurati hammered around in his new, fast, Nacra 16, and George and Will Fairlie tried out their fancy new, bright yellow Laser. With these new additions its going to be a fun fast summer!

The lunch was a full house with many people attending the opening day (all agreeing it was once again a wonderful layout of food), and after watching the sailors out on the water most agreed the weather was just right for a good sail, however the decision had been made and the race has been postponed. It will be run at the end of the series after race 8 on the 27th of November.

Next week should see a big fleet of sailors hitting the water, weather permitting.
