After a somewhat wild and windy start to the sailing season on 1st November, the next 2 weekends’ sailing on Anderson’s Inlet at Inverloch were a dream for the many sailors. The weather over the last 2 weekends were warm and sunny with pleasant winds from the southwest. Those sailors who took to the water, including many of our junior members, enjoyed the wonderful conditions. The sailors were competing in the Knights of Leongatha Toyota Series with races hotly contested as can be seen from the results. On the 8th November, 13 sailors took to the water while on the 15th November, 10 sailors competed.
At the same time training was carried out for 4 new junior members while 2 other juniors competed in the races. The club was pleased to see an increasing number of families enjoying the day with some juniors returning again after last year’s events.
It was pleasing to see David Barker and his son Will back sailing the Taser. Also, Volka was carrying out training for juniors Sian and Jake Campbell [kids of new members Paul and Elle Fitzgerald] in the SGYC Optis. It was also great to see Sara [Volka’s partner] sailing in the SGYC Mirror with their daughter Louise while Talia, their other daughter, was being trained in a Minnow. The Harrisons [Hugh, Gabriele, Daughters Lucy and Jasmine] returned with Hugh rigging the Windrush Catamaran and getting out on the water. Two of our up and coming junior sailors [Abbey Argus-Smith sailing a laser with radial rig for the first time and Oscar Llewellyn sailing a laser] competed very well in the afternoon’s race.
