It was a pleasant day for start of the Commodores Cup with Race 1 and 2 the events of the day with 19 boats making their way around the course at the South Gippsland Yacht Club at Inverloch.
Race 1 of the Commodores Cup sent the boats around the inlet in front of the club, with a very gentle 5 knot south westerly helping them along. With catamarans being sent off first Rob McNair on his Windrush 14 came in first on handicap, with Pete Keily 2nd and Shaun Freeman 3rd. In the monohulls, Steve Horton beat Toby Leppin over the line with Geoff Rippingale coming through in 3rd.
In the second race the wind picked up to 8-9 knot South Westerly, and the course was adjusted to be a figure 8 course out to the left of the club up the inlet a little. In division Craig Stewart came in first on handicap on his 16 foot Mosquito, with Pete Keily close behind and Shaun Freeman coming through in 3rd place.
With the monohulls Folkert Janssen and Sara Janssen came through in 1st place on their shiny new RS 400, with TOby Leppin second and Geoff Rippingale 3rd.
It was a great day with plenty of boats on the water and a great start to the Commodores cup sailing series.
