A word from our Commodore regarding the Covid 19 virus

March 23rd, 2020

Dear Members,

I am writing to outline the actions to be taken at South Gippsland Yacht Club as a result of the Covid-19 situation. The health and safety of our members, family and friends is of primary concern in any decisions that we make. Following the latest announcements from the government, tonight’s committee meeting has decided on the following:

The remainder of the sailing season will be cancelled.

Until further notice committee meetings will not take place. Any pressing issues will be considered via email.

At this stage it is possible that the AGM scheduled for August 1st might need to be delayed to a later date. Members will be notified closer to the date.

Presentation night is cancelled. Trophies will be presented at a later date.

For now members can still access the club compound but please minimise contact with others in line with the social distancing guidelines.

The situation with Covid-19 is developing rapidly. The committee will try to keep you informed as changes affecting SGYC occur. If you have any concerns regarding this notice or any other issue concerning SGYC please don’t hesitate to discuss them with a member of the committee and we will deal with them as best we can.

On behalf of the committee, I implore you to stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all at the commencement of the new sailing season.

Wayne Smith

Commodore SGYC
